One of the most famous lines in the movie Juno is when actress Ellen Page (Juno) says to actor Michael Cera (Paulie), “’Cause you're, like, the coolest person I've ever met, and you don't even have to try.”  Michael Cera replies, “I try really hard, actually.”

“Life is no Nintendo game" is a famous lyric in Eminem's song "Love the Way you Lie."

These lyrics imply that we do not get to do things over in real life.  Sure, there are some things that we don't get to do over, but we actually DO get to redo many things, especially in education.  Here are just a few examples of tests we get to retake:  SAT, ACT, Bar Exam, driver's license test, teacher license test, administrator license test, pilot license test, and many more.  If we turn in our taxes with some errors, we get feedback and get to fix them. Would we learn more by taking an exam again?  If we don't pass our license exam as a teacher the very first time, do they say "oh well" and either let us move on and still get our license, or tell us that we can't be teachers?  No...the content is important and must be mastered before we can be teachers.
